A Time of Re-Imagining
Dear Ghost Light Players members, community, friends and family:
For the last seven years, Ghost Light Players has enjoyed many successful and fun-filled seasons. Each year, we joyfully dedicated ourselves to our mission: bringing creative and educational theater projects to our local community. We are proud that during this past year of so many changes, we continued to grow and thrive as a company. We are very grateful for all we have accomplished, and very humbled in the knowledge that it was only possible with the support of so many others. It has been an extraordinary privilege for all of us at Ghost Light to be a part of this wonderful theater community.
After much deliberation, the three company founders, Kat Alix-Gaudreau, Kim Beauchemin and Cliff Dike, have decided to take Ghost Light Players in a new direction. The full Board of Governors met earlier in 2018 and agreed to support this decision. Ghost Light has always been a place for innovation, risk and challenge (as well as lots of fun), and the decision to change up the structure of our beloved organization was not an easy one. However, we truly believe that taking risks and trying new things is an essential component of theater. We want Ghost Light to continue to be a place where we can all be brave. To honor all the hard work that has come before and thoughtfully move forward in a new direction, we will take the next season off from main-stage productions and spend that time in a rebuilding phase.
In the meantime, we will host our 2018 annual fundraiser, It’s a Wonderful Life, the Radio Play, on December 8 and will donate our profits to the Marlborough Community Cupboard, the local food pantry we typically benefit at our free Shakespeare productions. In addition, we are looking forward to some fun social events in lieu of our main-stage season. Rest assured, the ghost light will stay lit, even if our stage is dark for a little while.
We will be sharing information about the new structure through our e-newsletter, website and social media feeds, so please be on the lookout for ways you can get involved and support us, or just hang out and have some fun. Though we do not have any details to share just yet, we do know that Ghost Light will continue to be a place where wonderful people come together to make wonderful theater.
With love and respect,
The Ghost Light Players’ Board of Governors
Cliff, Michelle, Krisha, Jacob, Alecia, K, Amy and Kat
